This 4/4 cello has a label that states: “Joannes Franciscus Pressenda Raphael, fecit tairini anno domini 1840”
According to the valuer, this cello is from the Bohemian-Czech school. Built probably around 1920.
The back and ribs are made of flamed European maple wood. The top is European spruce with a nice pattern of evenly spaced annual rings. The neck has a slim radius.
The cello is lacquered in a red-brown finish over a ochre-gold undercoating.
The dimensions of this (4/4) cello:

- body height (to the heel) 76 cm
- the scale is 69 cm (keel to bridge)
