About Klaassen Bows in the Netherlands
André Klaassen has been in the business for more than 35 years. He builds handmade bows based on old examples or on his own design, created in collaboration with musicians. Made from the very best woods and precious metals in the heart of the medieval Hanseatic city of Zutphen in the Netherlands.
Like any musical instrument, a bow is a tool in its purest form; materials are chosen not for their appearance but for their efficiency. The form is the result of centuries of trial and error rather than theory-based design.
The playing properties of a bow are always the unique sum of the material used in combination with centuries of practice.
